Introduction to Software-Defined Networks, OpenFlow, Mininet, Overview, Existing SDN Controllers-  Floodlight and OpenDaylight, Topology management, Controller placement problem, Multi-controller issues, Load Balancing, Network Function Virtualization, Data Plane-Motivation, OpenFlow Vs P4,  PISA Architecture, P4 language Constructs- Registers, Counters, Bloom filters, Stateful firewalls, Software-Defined Networking for Internet of Things, Security issues in SDN, and Standardization, Future Directions. This course includes the hands-on using Mininet, BMV2, Tofino Software switch, and Tofino Hardware switch. Also, some research projects on P4.

2. CS326C: Advanced Computer Networks, Offered in Autumn 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022

Introduction to Networking, Life of a Packet, Performance: loss, delay, throughput, Protocol layers, service models Network Layer- Introduction, Network Routing-Router architecture, Buffer Management and Scheduling policies, DHCP, NAT, IPV6, Network Routing, BGP Internals. Transport layer: overview, Principles of congestion control TCP congestion control- AIMD, Internet Service models: Quality of Services- InterServ, DiffServ RSVP. Application layer-Email Service Architecture, DNS, HTTP and web, Wireless and Mobile Networks, Recent networking architectures: Software-defined networks, SDN, Self-driving networks, Datacentre Network Requirements, and Programmable Networks. This course includes some research projects on Machine learning analysis of Network Data.

Introduction to IoT, IoT concepts & applications, IoT architectures, IoT Sensor Node-Requirements & Physical Constraints, IoT Sensor Node- Advanced Sensors, Energy Harvesting. Sensor Node Design & Challenges, Smart Objects and connecting smart objects.IoT & Networking, IEEE 80.15, NB-IoT and Wi-Fi, WPANs, WBANs, Introduction to ZigBee, Bluetooth, LoRA, NFC, IoT communication protocols-MQTT, CoAP.. IoT Software: From Things to Cloud, Integration of Cloud computing and Internet of Things, Machine learning for internet of things data analysis, Machine learning for internet of things data analysis, Introduction to IIoT, IIoT vs Industry 4.0, IIoT & CPS. This course includes hands-on using Arduino & Raspberry pi, Thingspeak, and Google Firebase creation and some prototype design based on the IoT application.
